舟山是中国第四大岛，第一个以群岛建制的地级市，素有“海天佛国、渔都港城”之美誉。区域总面积2.22万平方公里，大小岛屿1390个，常住人口115万。2015年，全市GDP增速居全省第二位，实现地区生产总值1095亿元，海洋经济总产出2653亿元，港口货物吞吐量3.8亿吨，旅游接待人数3876万人次，财政总收入159.6亿元。
As China’s 4th largest island and 1st prefecture-level city formed by an archipelago, Zhoushan is known as a “Buddhist Kingdom, Fishing Capital, and Port City”. The total area is 22,200 square kilometers. It has 1,390 islands of different sizes and 1.15 million permanent residents. In 2015, Zhoushan City’s GDP growth rate ranked 2nd in Zhejiang. It realized regional RMB 109.5 billion yuan, gross output of marine economy 265.3 billion yuan, port cargo throughput 380 million tons, received tourists 38.76 million person-times, and achieved general fiscal revenue 15.96 billion yuan.
浙江舟山群岛新区是国务院批复的第四个国家级新区，是“21世纪海上丝绸之路”的重要节点。新区将以国际物流枢纽岛、对外开放门户岛、海洋产业集聚岛、国际生态休闲岛、海上花园城和舟山江海联运服务中心，即“四岛一城一中心”为建设目标，最终成为我国面向环太平洋经济圈的“桥头堡”。
Zhoushan Archipelago New Area is the 4th national new area in China approved by the State Council. It is a key point on the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. The New Area will be regarded as an International Logistics Hub Island, Open Portal Island, Marine Industry Cluster Island, International Eco-leisure Island, Offshore Garden City and Zhoushan River-Ocean Combined Transportation Service Center, i.e. “four islands, one city and one center” as its goal, and become China’s “bridgehead” facing the Pacific Rim Economic Circle.
